HASTINGS UNITED INCLUSIVE & DISABILITY TEAM - MARCH 2025

Hastings United Inclusive & Disability Team sponsored by Poppypac went to Lancing this month to play a couple of matches. We played against Wick and Brighton.

In March, Hastings United Inclusive and Disability Team made the long trip to Lancing to play in their next round of league fixtures. We welcomed two debutants to our squad, as Lee and Nathan made their first appearances for us, and both were determined to perform to the best of their ability.

The team were in a great mood and felt confident in playing well, and showed that in the opening game against East Surrey Hawks, where despite Hastings playing well, East Surrey Hawks won the game 1-0, through a well worked corner routine. Hastings enjoyed long spells of possession throughout the game, and crafted great opportunities to level the game, with Elijah and Lee working extremely hard on the wings to defend and attack, and Leeroy and Jack having some good shots up front, but the opposition goalkeeper pulled off some incredible saves to win his team the game. Despite an incredible goalkeeper performance from Charlie, countless passes from every player on the pitch and a brilliant effort all around, it just wasn’t Hastings’s game.

The second game was against Worthing, who are a very strong side and did not take Hastings lightly. They crafted brilliant opportunities, but with the important tackles in midfield of Nathan and the tight marking of both Aaron and Alex, their options were limited and the number of shots they had were minimal. They did however find a way through, twice, showing their quality, and winning the game 2-0. Leeroy pressed well up front and Elijah and Lee made sure that the wings were covered, while Jack was a constant threat whenever he had the ball. Nathan made some brilliant tackles and interceptions in the midfield while Alex got in the way of a lot of shots, and Aaron made some brilliant clearances, including one off the goal line. Charlie made some incredible saves again, but unluckily, good performances from the whole squad were just not enough to see a good result in this game.

Overall, everyone played incredibly well and the Manager’s Player of the Day went to Lee, who on debut, had some great opportunities and was unlucky to not score, while playing extremely well defensively when needed. The Players’ Player of the Day went to Alex, who once again showed strong leadership at the back and limited the number of goals conceded.
